After 100,000 Fans of the StarCraft franchise said we wan LAN. Blizzard/EA finally said,"hey did you hear that ... sounded like some lost revenue?" and is at least LOOKING at possibly adding LAN, kinda...
Maintaining a connection with Battle.net, I don't know if it's once or periodically, but then also having a peer-to-peer connection between players to facilitate a very low-ping, high-bandwidth connection ... those are the things that we're working on. -Battle.Net developer Greg Canessa

Not sure how this "Pseudo-LAN" works but at least they heard the petition and once they got Abysal's email I'm sure they went,"DAMN if it wasn't for this lone email we still could have gotten away with it, too, if it wasn't for those Meddling gamers and that website too." Or something like that ... LOL

| I don't want to get my hopes up, but that looks promising. They really need to understand that pirates will pirate the game regardless of what they do, unless they require pre-game DNA validation? lol. Any kind of BNET authentication is what the problem is, because what that means is that without an internet connection you can't play. Hey if they are willing to provide a cellular modem with each game for wireless authentication.. hey I'm all for it.

Hey if the sheep get exactly what they want... who cares ... now if they only do a half hearted effort, I still won't be buying it
I want LAN, not a bastardization. If I can't have a LAN without internet then it's a failure, pure and simple

Actually, watch out, sofar Starcraft 2 is most famous for Killing video cards, and crashing NVidia based systems (hard). They have Bioshock level bugs with this code, that people are screaming about on the forums. Handle with care.

StarCraft II Overheating Bug
[10:16 am ET] - Share - 5 Comments
One of the listed StarCraft II Known Issues on the Battle.net Technical Support Forums is a bit of a doozy, as when rendering "screens that are light on detail" (such as menus), the game can cause hardware to heat up by refreshing the screen too frequently, which can put your system in jeopardy. The posting is from a couple of weeks ago, and the workaround they offer is clearly for the beta, but this known issue is also apparently still present in the shipping version of the RTS sequel, as a post on GameInformer.com describes the game's destruction of a graphics card and a laptop apparently thanks to this problem (thanks Ant via Digg). Here's the workaround for the beta, which will presumably work on the full game by using the proper directory:
Screens that are light on detail may make your system overheat if cooling is overall insufficient. This is because the game has nothing to do so it is primarily just working on drawing the screen very quickly. A temporary workaround is to go to your Documents\StarCraft II Beta\variables.txt file and add these lines:
frameratecapglue=30
frameratecap=60
You may replace these numbers if you want to.
